SARIKEI: The Sarawak Government Administrative Centre for the Sarikei Division has officially opened as a Green Building Index (GBI)-certified facility equipped with high-speed online connectivity to key departments, including those in Kuching.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the building, valued at RM150 million, will house the Resident’s Office and other key agencies that serve the local population.
“The old office building will also be utilised by other agencies, including those under the federal departments.
“This coordination will ensure that the services provided to the people in Sarikei are efficient and effective. It has a GBI-certified facility and is also equipped with online connectivity to other departments that will allow our traders or officials to conduct Zoom meetings if necessary.

“This means that if there are issues with project implementation, they can be resolved through Zoom meetings,” he said.
He said this in a press conference after the launching of the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre Sarikei Division here today (May 14).
Abang Johari also expressed confidence that the building’s digital connectivity will further enhance service delivery across the four districts in the Sarikei Division, namely Meradong, Sarikei, Pakan, and Julau.
On a related note, he also shared updates from a development briefing earlier, revealing that as of April 20 to 30, a total of 200 government projects worth RM4.9 billion have been implemented in Sarikei.
“Overall, we are very satisfied with the implementation of the planned projects for this division. These include road and bridge projects, as well as water and electricity supply,” he said.
He noted that all projects are progressing on schedule, a development he described as encouraging for the region’s long-term growth.
“With improved roads and utilities, the agriculture sector, particularly agropark stands to benefit significantly,” he added.
