KUALA LUMPUR: A new Serian District Education Office (PPD) has been approved under the 12th Malaysia Plan and is currently at the pre-construction stage, with tender documents being prepared.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) disclosed this in a written reply to Serian Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Richard Riot Jaem on the status of the office, which has long been operating from Sekolah Kebangsaan Serian.
According to the ministry, the construction of the new PPD Serian building will be implemented by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) using the conventional consultancy method.
The development of a dedicated district education office is seen as crucial in supporting administrative and operational needs in Serian, including providing more suitable working spaces and strengthening the delivery of education services to schools and the local community.
