SIMUNJAN: The newly completed Simunjan Non-Halal Food Court here is set to cater to the needs and preferences of various community groups in the area.
Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris stated that the project is an initiative with a significant impact on the local economy.
“I also emphasised that the food court is not just a place to enjoy meals but also a business opportunity for local entrepreneurs.
“This is one of the efforts that brings great benefits to the Simunjan community as a whole.”
Awla said this during the inauguration of the food court on Tuesday (Feb 25).
He also hopes that the Simunjan Non-Halal Food Court will become a centre promoting various dishes in a customer-friendly, clean, and comfortable environment.
He added that it will serve as a platform to encourage the growth of local businesses, create job opportunities, and enrich the area’s gastronomic culture.
“This space fosters healthy competition among local entrepreneurs.”
The food court was funded through his Rural Transformation Program (RTP) allocation at a cost of RM350,000, housing eight stalls.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Simunjan District Council secretary Sabli Razak, Simunjan District Office assistant administrative officer Mohd Raili Jawawi, Pemanca Liew Wui Tchiun, Kapitan Liew Jau Kheng, as well as council members and stall tenants.
The food court has now become one of the main attractions in Simunjan, offering a variety of food choices that suit the local community’s tastes, particularly non-halal dishes.
The aim is to provide a better space for those seeking food variety while accommodating customers from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
