KAPIT: The education sector and community unity here have received a boost with the opening of a new multipurpose hall at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kapit.
Bukit Goram assemblyman Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat said the hall, which will benefit both the school and surrounding community, is expected to host educational, cultural, sports, and religious activities.
“This facility will not only be utilized by the school community through various educational, cultural, sports, and religious programs but will also provide advantages to the local community,” Jefferson said in his speech when officiating at the new hall recently.
He also stressed the importance of early exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to prepare Kapit’s younger generation for global competitiveness.
At the same time, he called for stronger efforts to tackle bullying in schools to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment.
During the event, Jefferson announced an allocation of RM30,000 under the Rural Small Project (MRP) fund to the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) for school activities.
More than 250 guests attended the opening ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the PIBG Dinner. The evening was enlivened with singing performances by teachers and a traditional ngajat dance by SK Kapit pupils.
