KUCHING: The new Tabuan Jaya Health Clinic at Jalan Setia Raja here is expected to begin operations soon.
Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen, said that according to an update from the Health Minister in Parliament, the construction of the clinic is scheduled for completion by September 16.
Dr Yii, who has been advocating for the project since his election, welcomed the progress, saying the facility would address the growing demand for healthcare in the Tabuan neighbourhood and surrounding areas.
“Once completed, the clinic will provide much-needed healthcare services to the residents in and around the Tabuan neighbourhood as well as nearby areas.
“The clinic will be equipped with a wide range of essential services, including a pharmacy unit, outpatient and emergency treatment, diagnosing imaging, oral health and rehabilitation units, maternal and child healthcare units, pathology units and many others
“It is also designed to include public and staff amenities to better ensure the welfare of both patients and healthcare workers at the clinic,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Dr Yii said the new facility could help ease congestion at overstretched clinics such as Tanah Puteh Health Clinic and Kota Sentosa Health Clinic that had long faced high patient volumes.
“I firmly believe that healthcare is a basic right, and I will continue to push for its timely completion and ensure that this project benefits the people as intended.
“I will also be following up closely with the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies to ensure that the progress of this clinic will be sailing smoothly and that it will be fully equipped and staffed by the time it operates.
“I remain committed to fighting for accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all residents in Bandar Kuching and beyond,” said Dr Yii.
