ISTANBUL, Dec 27 (Bernama-Anadolu) — The New York Stock Exchange closed the week lower in the first session after the Christmas holiday break, Anadolu Ajansi reported.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped slightly by 0.04 per cent, or 20.19 points, to close at 48,710.97 points.

The Nasdaq fell 0.09 per cent, or 20.21 points, to 23,593.01, while the S&P 500 lost 0.03 per cent, or 2.11 points, to 6,929.94.

Stock markets in the US, which were closed on Thursday due to Christmas, traded lower on Friday.

Analysts pointed out that trading volumes remain low in the markets after the Christmas holidays.

On the corporate side, tech giant Nvidia gained 1 per cent after announcing a licensing agreement with chip start-up Groq for inference technology.
