KUCHING: Stadium Perpaduan Kuching erupted into a melodious chorus of singing as Indonesian band Nidji brought the curtains down on their emotional concert on Saturday night with their hit song “Hapus Aku”.
As the music began, the entire audience sang along, the song uniting the thousands of fans who attended the Nidji Pelangi Concert in Kuching 2025.
With its meaningful lyrics and deep melodies, “Hapus Aku” resonated with the audience, reflecting the emotions shared throughout the evening.
The band’s incredible ability to connect with fans made the moment even more nostalgic and heartfelt, ensuring the night ended with memories that would last a lifetime.
Kicking off with the song “Heaven”, Nidji wasted no time electrifying the stage, captivating over 3,000 fans who filled the stadium.
The band expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans.
Vocalist Ubay warmed hearts by speaking in local Sarawak Malay, saying “kamek sayang kitak” (“I love you all”), charming every fan present.
Adding to the excitement, Ubay stepped off the stage to interact directly with the crowd, mesmerising thousands with his magnetic presence.
Ubay, whose full name is Muhammad Yusuf Nur Ubay, first gained public attention as a contestant on the eighth season of Indonesian Idol in 2014.
During the competition, he impressed judges with his singing and saxophone skills, although he concluded his journey in the Top 5.
After several years pursuing his musical career, Ubay was officially announced as Nidji’s new lead vocalist in February 2019, replacing Giring Ganesha, who ventured into politics.
Ubay was selected through an open audition campaign titled #MimpiAdalahKunci2019, standing out among more than 2,000 participants.
Before Nidji’s sensational performance, the audience was treated to lively shows by Drama Band, Bob Yunus, Zah Amirul, and The Beretta’s, each delivering energetic performances that fired up the atmosphere in the stadium.
Organised by Coms Creative Studio and HMK Production, the concert also featured a Local Culture Carnival (Karnival Pembudayaan Setempat), complete with various sales booths and cultural performances throughout the event.
