KUCHING: Kuching City FC are planning one of their biggest transfer windows yet, with up to nine new players expected to arrive ahead of the new Malaysia Super League season.
Club chairman, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, said the extensive recruitment drive is aimed at preparing the Cats for a demanding campaign, with fixtures expected to come every three to four days.
“This alone requires us to have more players in every position,” he told Sarawak Tribune after officiating the Liga K-LSC opener at Taha Ariffin Stadium today (June 28).
Fazzrudin said the club are targeting eight to nine new signings to strengthen the squad across the pitch.
Among those on the shortlist are several players with Malaysia Super League experience, while the club is also pursuing an import from the Indonesian League who has featured in the AFC Champions League.
“We are looking at players who are familiar with the Malaysia Super League, and also one from Indonesia who has played in the AFC Champions League.
“We feel his experience will help the team,” he said.
The AFC Champions League-experienced player is expected to bring added quality and leadership to a squad preparing for one of its busiest seasons.
Kuching City are expected to unveil the new arrivals once negotiations and registration formalities have been completed.
