IPOH, Perak: Nine people have been remanded for a week to facilitate investigation into the discovery of a woman’s body in the car of a suspect who allegedly shot and stabbed a policeman in Simpang Pulai yesterday.
District Police Chief, ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, said the nine comprised eight men and a woman.
“The remand order, effective today until Sunday, was issued by Magistrate Anis Hanini Abdullah. The police are in the midst of tracking down the main suspect,” he said when contacted.
A 26-year-old policeman from the Simpang Pulai Police Station was treated at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here after sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen and stab injuries during a struggle with a suspect believed to be involved in a murder case at an oil palm plantation near a factory in Simpang Pulai.
In the 1:15 am incident, police found the body of a woman in the rear seat of the suspect’s car.
The case is being investigated under Sections 302 and 307 of the Penal Code and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971. – BERNAMA
