BETONG: Police have arrested nine locals to facilitate investigations into a bullying case in Spaoh recently.
Betong police chief DSP Zamry Alli in a statement, confirmed that the suspects were picked up by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) around the district.
“The male suspects, aged between 12 and 26, will be investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
“If convicted under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code, they may face imprisonment or a fine or both,” he said.
Following this, Zamry advised the public not to share the video and refrain from speculating on the incident as it is still under investigation.
Recently, Betong police came across a viral video of the bullying incident on TikTok and Facebook.
The 2.04-minute clip depicted a teenage boy being repeatedly slapped on the face and head by an individual while several other teenagers recorded the incident on their phones.
The incident was confirmed to have taken place in Spaoh. The viral video has since been taken down from TikTok and Facebook.
