KUCHING: Ramadhan Saifullah’s breakout season with Kuching City FC is now earning recognition beyond Sarawak.
Former national footballer, Nizaruddin Yusof,has named the 24-year-old among Malaysia’s top wingers this season, placing the Kuching City attacker second only behind Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) star Arif Aiman Hanapi.
The praise came following the conclusion of the Super League campaign, where Ramadhan emerged as one of The Cats’ most influential players during their historic runners-up finish.
Speaking as a panellist during Astro Arena’s recent live Super League coverage, Nizaruddin placed Ramadhan ahead of several established national names including Faisal Halim, Safawi Rasid and Akhyar Rashid.
“Until the end of tonight’s match, I dare to place Ramadhan in second spot, only behind Arif Aiman,” he said confidently.
Ramadhan enjoyed a standout campaign with Kuching City, contributing nine goals and 12 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
His pace, direct attacking play and growing confidence in the final third became a major weapon for Aidil Sharin Sahak’s side throughout the season.
Nizaruddin believes Malaysia’s growing depth in wide attacking positions could become a major advantage for national head coach Peter Cklamovski moving forward.
“Ultimately, this benefits the national team because we now have five or six quality wingers who fit Peter Cklamovski’s tactical system for that position,” he added.
The former national player also believes Ramadhan is now ready to play a bigger role with Harimau Malaya following his rapid development this season.
“Peter now has many options, and Ramadhan is currently at his best level. That is something very positive for him and also for the national squad,” he said.
Ramadhan’s rise this season has mirrored Kuching City’s own breakthrough year, with The Cats not only securing a historic second-place finish in the Super League, but also booking a merit-based spot in the AFC Champions League Two (ACL2).
