KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has confirmed that no party from the federal side had contacted him yet.

He disclosed that the decision to cooperate with the party from Malaya will be made after he has all the details on the overall result.

“We do not have the details yet but I expect that we will be cooperating with them to form the government.

“But thus far, I have been informed that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has a slight lead in this election. The decision of which party GPS will work with will be decided later,” he said.

He said this during the press conference at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tonight (Nov 19).

When asked about the deputy prime minister position, Abang Johari reiterated that the position should come with power if they were to offer it to GPS.

“If the position does not hold any power, then what is the point? But if it comes with power, and they offer it to our MP, then why not?” he said.

Following this, he stressed that compared to the position, the Sarawak rights as enshrined in Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) should be given more importance.
