TATAU: A landslide was reported behind a private house at Rumah Sulang, Sungai Kelawit, here today, with no casualties.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at about 3.08 pm and dispatched a team from the Tatau station to the location, about eight kilometres away.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that soil movement had taken place at the rear of an old, unoccupied house located behind the Rumah Sulang longhouse.

Bomba said the structure, measuring approximately three by eight metres, was no longer inhabited and was used solely for storing furniture.

No evacuation was required as the situation was assessed to be safe, although livestock in the area was affected by the landslide.

After conducting monitoring and ensuring there were no further safety risks, the operation was concluded at about 3.38 pm and the Bomba personnel returned to the station.
