SARATOK: Sarawak is committed to ensuring no one is left behind in the state’s development journey driven by the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Gabung Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led government remains focused on advancing development based on shared prosperity.
“Through PCDS 2030, we aim for Sarawak to achieve social inclusivity and environmental sustainability.
“Development must benefit everyone, no one will be left out,” he said in his speech read out by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during the closing ceremony of the Saratok Festival 2025, held at the Sungai Krian Waterfront here today.
Abang Johari also called on the people to remain united and extend their full support to the GPS government, emphasising that unity is the key to a prosperous, peaceful and forward-moving Sarawak, in line with the goals of PCDS 2030.
On the boat racing events during the Saratok Festival, he described them as a long-standing and popular annual tourism attraction.
“Regattas are a unique identity of Saratok District, with a history dating back to 1965. We fully support this event as it carries significant meaning for the community as a whole.
“We celebrate the people of Saratok with a variety of engaging programmes and performances throughout the festival.
“I must say, events like this enhance Saratok’s appeal as a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors from outside the district,” he added.
He said that festivals such as these provide income-generating opportunities for the local community through the promotion and sale of local products.
Additionally, bringing together people of various backgrounds and ethnicity helps foster social harmony through shared cultural and sporting events like the Kalaka Regatta – the highlight of the Saratok Festival 2025.
During the event, Uggah presented prizes to the winners of the Bidar 25 final, which was won by the team Landas Azam Kasihnya Warisan.
Earlier races included the Bidar 20 final, also won by Landas Azam Kasihnya Warisan, while the Bidar 10 title went to the team Waris Temudok Baru.
