KUCHING: Serian District Council Chairman, Datuk Peter Minos, has dismissed claims of a power struggle within Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), calling such rumours baseless and driven by bad intentions.

“There is no power struggle at the top in PBB. None that I have heard or know of,” he said in a statement issued today.

Minos criticised certain media outlets in Peninsular Malaysia for spreading unfounded speculation, accusing them of sensationalising political issues to boost newspaper sales.

“These mischievous individuals do so at the expense of others. They do not care as they are reckless in character,” he said.

He stressed that PBB members remain loyal and grounded, rejecting rumours that seek to pit leaders against one another.

“By nature and character, PBB members do not give any attention to baseless rumours and instigations.

“As far as they are concerned, they believe their top leaders know exactly what to do and how to behave,” he said.

He added that attempts to sow discord within the party would not succeed.

“Maybe in the peninsula, rumours and insinuations do work but not in Sarawak. There is no ethic at all in politics in the peninsula.

“That is why there are endless cycles of political problems and even crises. They want it that way. Not us in Sarawak,” he stressed.

Minos urged Sarawakians to remain focused and not be distracted by political gossip or speculation originating from outside the state.

“We are better off not taking any heed of political rumours created by those in the peninsula. Why bother with things that were nothing in the first place?” he added.

His statement comes amid growing online speculation surrounding Sarawak’s political scene, which he insists remains stable and rooted in mutual trust and unity.
