KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) has warned the public against falling for online scams offering illegal driving licence services, following the circulation of a misleading video on TikTok.
The video, posted by a user under the name “Pak Yop”, falsely claimed that individuals could obtain driving licences without going through the proper legal procedures.
RTD said the person behind the account has never been authorised, approved, or recognised by the department for any official dealings.
“The video clearly promotes an illegal service that goes against existing laws and procedures.
“Such action not only violates the integrity of the public service, but also causes confusion among the public and has the potential to lead to more serious fraudulent activities,” the department said.
Members of the public are reminded not to be lured by offers that promise easy, quick, or cheap ways to obtain a driving licence.
RTD said it remains firm in safeguarding the integrity of public service and warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found to be misleading the public for personal gain.
Any suspicious offers or complaints can be made through the department’s official complaint portal at https://jpj.spab.gov.my.
