SIBU: A man who was up all-night singing karaoke was fined RM1,000 for breaching the movement control order (MCO) on Saturday (Jan 30).

According to Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, a neighbour called the police due to the loud singing from the 21-year-old man.

“A patrol team then showed up at the man’s house at Lorong Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce around 1.15am,” he said.

He said that police discovered the man singing karaoke, while his friends were intoxicated after a drinking session.

“The man committed an offense under Regulation 15 (Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Regulations (Measures within the Area of Infection) (No.2) 2021,” he said.

Stanley added that the man was taken to the central police station to be issued a compound which he is required to pay within 14 days at the Sibu Division Health Office.
