KUCHING: Sarawak’s own Nor Shafiza Marojek claimed gold in the women’s Orienteering Middle Distance event at the 22nd Malaysian Deaf Games (SOPMA XXII 2025) today.

She completed the challenging course in 29 minutes and 56.8 seconds.

In the men’s category, Johor dominated with a clean sweep: Muhammad Daniel Moharam took gold in 29 minutes and 25.5 seconds, followed by teammates, Kanng Wei Lun and Paandian a/l Annamalai.

Meanwhile, Perak’s Chue Pei Wen secured silver in the women’s event, with Johor’s Kelly Siew taking bronze.

The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by Batu Tiga, Selangor State Assemblyman, Danial Al Rashid Haron Aminur Rashid, who congratulated the winners for their commitment and discipline throughout the games.

The Orienteering event tested endurance, navigation skills, and mental clarity, showcasing the perseverance, unity and competitive spirit of Malaysia’s deaf athletes.
