KUCHING: Nor Shahrizan Sulaiman, currently serving as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maybank Islamic Berhad (MIB), has been appointed as the Officer-in-Charge of MIB.
According to a statement by Maybank, his appointment follows the resignation of Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Islamic Banking, Datuk Muzaffar Hisham, who is stepping down to pursue other professional interests.
“The process to identify a new GCEO will commence immediately, and the outcome will be announced in due course.
“With that, Nor Shahrizan will assume the day-to-day management of MIB in addition to his current responsibilities, until a new GCEO is appointed,” the bank said.
Commenting on the appointment, Maybank President and GCEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli thanked Muzaffar for his invaluable contributions over the past 14 years.
“He has played a pivotal role in steering our Islamic banking franchise towards achieving true global leadership, in line with our M25+ strategy,” he said.
