KUALA LUMPUR: The grand finale of the Unleashed Youth Simracing Championship, powered by Castrol and organised by Cove Circuit, crowned Nur Aqilah Najwa as the inaugural women’s champion and Dhanesh Wigneswaran as the men’s champion in a fiercely contested showdown on Aug 16 and 17 at Sunway Pyramid.
The landmark event turned the mall into a racing arena like no other, with Malaysia’s rising simracing stars battling for glory in front of an electrified crowd.
The crowd erupted during the Unleashed Celebrity Race Showdown, which featured an all-star line-up, including Ismail Izzani, Yonnyboii, Kidd Santhe, Zynakal, Leona Chin, Taufiq Hanafi, Nick Syaf, Asyraf Nasir, Lil J, and Killa Driz.
Their head-to-head clash on the simulators brought music, motorsport, and pop culture together in one unforgettable moment.
“Unleashed” is more than just one event. It is a brand we are committed to growing. The mix of celebrities, youth, and racing shows how simracing can unite communities and create new opportunities.
“We already have off-season engagement plans, and you may even see Unleashed Ambassadors introduced soon. This is only the beginning,” said Cove Circuit founder Jeevan Raj Menon.
“Beyond the celebrity buzz, the championship marked a major step forward for simracing in Malaysia. The campaign reached nearly 4,000 participants across university and mall roadshows in the Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor, proving the appetite for simracing among youth nationwide.”
From there, 442 simracers competed at Cove Circuit Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya, with the field narrowing to the top 10 men and top 10 women racers for the grand finale. They battled it out for a RM30,000 prize pool.
“History was made with the introduction of Malaysia’s first-ever female-only simracing category. Nur Aqilah Najwa emerged as the inaugural female champion, while Dhanesh Wigneswaran clinched the men’s title in a fiercely contested finale.”
Supported by Toyota Gazoo Racing Malaysia, Men’s Biore, Sunway Pyramid, Universal Music Malaysia, and Def Jam Malaysia, the Unleashed Youth Simracing Championship has positioned itself as a new cultural force, combining competition, entertainment, and inclusivity to shape the future of youth motorsport in Malaysia.
