SELANGOR: Silver is no longer enough for Nursyazwani Shahrom, who is setting her sights on a golden double at the 2026 Para SUKMA Selangor.
The Sarawak women’s Para badminton singles player (SL4) is ready to step onto the court with a clear mission, to deliver two gold medals for the Sarawak contingent.
Nursyazwani will compete in two of her favourite events, the women’s singles and mixed doubles, seeing both as her best opportunities to turn that ambition into reality.
“I am ready to step onto the court, and my main mission is to try to deliver at least two gold medals for Sarawak,” she told Sarawak Tribune.
However, the 2024 Para SUKMA silver medallist knows the challenge ahead will be anything but easy, with competitors from the other states expected to arrive with the same determination to stand on top of the podium.
Despite that, Nursyazwani remains confident in her ability to produce her best when it matters most.
“I know there will be no easy matches because everyone wants to win, but I will give my best and fight for every point,” she said.
In the mixed doubles, Nursyazwani will partner Gregory Kanyan as they look to add another gold-medal opportunity to her campaign.
The Para badminton competition will be held from September 6 to 10 at the Shah Alam Youth and Sports Complex (KOMBES).
