Occupant suffers minor burns, car destroyed in Miri house fire

MIRI: A two-storey semi-permanent house in Lorong 2B, Kampung Lopeng Tengah, was severely damaged in a fire early today, with 80 per cent of the structure destroyed.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) Lopeng station dispatched a team to the scene following an emergency call received at 6.24 am.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre, firefighters managed to bring the flames under control by 7.15 am.

One of the occupants sustained minor burns on his shoulder during the incident, while a car parked near the house was completely destroyed.

As of now, personnel remain at the site conducting overhaul operations to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and to prevent any reignition.

No fatalities were reported in the incident.
