BINTULU: More than 100 employees of OCI M Sdn Bhd volunteered over the weekend to assist their colleagues whose homes were severely affected by the recent floods in this town.
Led by chief technical officer Kim Dong Moon, the two-day clean-up operation covered multiple residential areas with more than 30 badly affected houses requiring urgent assistance.
Kim stressed that the initiative reflects OCI M’s strong commitment to supporting its employees during times of crisis.
“At OCI M, we are more than just colleagues. We are a family. When disaster strikes, we stand together to help one another,” said Kim through a press statement on Monday (Feb 3).
“Seeing the devastating impact of the flood on our employees’ homes is heartbreaking, and we want to do everything we can to support them in rebuilding their lives.”
Beyond the clean-up efforts, OCI M is also providing temporary shelter for affected employees and their families.
OCI M has also contributed food aid to the Bintulu Resident’s Office and the relief centre at BDA Kidurong Sports Centre to assist the broader community.
“As a company deeply rooted in Sarawak with our plant at Samalaju Industrial Park, we recognise our responsibility to stand with our people during difficult times.
“This relief effort is just one of the many ways we are committed to supporting our employees and the local community,” Kim added.
OCI M is a wholly owned subsidiary of OCI Holdings in South Korea, specialising in the production of high-purity solar-grade polysilicon with an annual production capacity of 35,000 tonnes in the global supply chain for silicon wafers and photovoltaic cells.
