KUCHING: The local punk emo community is invited to participate in a full day of workshops and performances this weekend by Malaysian rock band, An Honest Mistake (AHM).
The event, which will be held at HAUS KCH on Oct 14, aims to unite local artists and musicians through music.
According to a statement, there will be a series of workshops ranging from ‘how to do a soundcheck’ to marketing oneself as an artist or even putting their songs on the radio and touring cities.
The programme will kick off at 12pm, with the performance showcase commencing at 6pm. The line-up for the performance showcase includes AHM, punk quartet Trophy Knives, ‘emonight’ outfit S4DKL (not to be confused with EmoNightKL) from KL, songstress Steff Fleur, hardcore punk band Dance On Your Grave, 2000s pop punkers Hey! Leave A Message, and co-founder of HAUS KCH, Ashweein Narayanan, performing under his moniker Macha Kaca Mata.
Commenting on the programme, frontman of AHM and co-organiser of An Honest Day Out & The Lonely Hearts Club, Darren Teh explained that the goal of the day is to provide an opportunity for artists to share knowledge and experiences within the music industry.
“Lots of things that happen in the music industry aren’t taught in schools or music colleges. You learn from experience and the workshops, the talks, they’re really for the artist by artists. It is for the community.
“To educate and to share so we can all grow together. Sharing in the day, then celebrating at night with a showcase,” he noted.
Tickets for the event are available for purchase, with 100 Early Bird tickets priced at RM40, followed by 150 Pre-Sale tickets at RM50.
Any remaining tickets will be sold for RM60 at the door. Additionally, the first 100 ticket holders will receive complimentary Tiger Crystal.
