SRI AMAN: A man was killed while his friend was seriously injured in an accident involving a motorcycle and a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Hospital here, last Friday night.
Sri Aman District Police chief, DSP Othman Sulaiman said the incident which occurred around 11.00pm involved a Yamaha 125Z and an Isuzu Dmax.
“The 4WD was heading to Temudok from Jalan Mangga when the victims, who were heading to Sri Aman Market from Temudok on a motorcycle, rammed the right side of the vehicle while the driver was exiting a junction,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Othman said the motorcyclist, identified as Dominick Chia Boon Hiang, 16, died at the scene while the pillion rider, a 20-year-old man from Jalan Kejatau was sent to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the 4WD and his passenger, from Rh Ajon Sapak Bubong and Rh Richerad Ajon Sapak Pantu, escaped unhurt in the incident. Police were investigating the case under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
