BINTULU: A man was killed and two others injured following a head-on collision between two cars along the Bintulu-Bakun Road on Monday afternoon (June 16).
The deceased, identified as 48-year-old Jok Jalong, died at the scene after the car he was driving collided with another car.
Emergency services were alerted at 2.46 pm, prompting the dispatch of fire and rescue teams from the nearest station — located approximately 153 kilometres away.
Upon arrival, first responders found Jok trapped in the driver’s seat. Paramedics confirmed his death at the scene. Firefighters then extricated the body and handed it over to the police for further action.
The crash occurred on a remote stretch of road and also injured two others including a female passenger travelling with Jok, and a male occupant of the second vehicle. Both were taken to Bintulu Hospital by paramedics before fire and rescue personnel arrived.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
