SIBU: A local man was killed while two others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision at the Pulau Dudong Roundabout here today.
The fatal crash, which occurred at about 8.30am, involved a Toyota Hilux and a Honda City carrying two occupants.
The impact left the Honda driver trapped inside the wreckage, triggering a rescue operation by firefighters from Sibu Jaya station.
Upon arrival, the team used specialised rescue equipment to extricate the victim from the mangled vehicle.

However, the victim, identified as Ricky James, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was later handed over to the police for further action.
Two other male victims — the Honda City passenger and the Toyota Hilux driver — sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for further medical treatment.
It is understood that the Honda passenger is severely injured while, the Hilux driver sustained minor injuries.
Following the rescue operation, firefighters carried out flushing works to clear debris from the roadway and ensure the area was safe for other road users.
The team ended the operation at 10.34am.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
