LIMBANG: A 62-year-old man was found dead, while another remains missing after a fishing trip near Kampung Pulau Brunei turned tragic.
The two men, both from the village, had set out fishing along the river at approximately 12 pm on Friday. However, concern grew when they failed to return as expected.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre, a call was received at 1.33 pm on Saturday, prompting the deployment of a team from Limbang Fire and Rescue station to the area.
The search led to the discovery of the first victim on the riverbank near Kampung Pulau Brunei at 11.24 am on Sunday. He was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at the scene.
Efforts to locate the second individual are ongoing. Authorities continue to scour the area in hopes of finding him.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
