Sibu: A fatal accident involving a four-wheel-drive (4WD) and a Perodua Kancil car that occurred before the roundabout near the Sibu-Bintulu road today (June 24) has claimed the life of a person.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sibu Zone chief Andy Alie said in a statement that upon arrival, the authorities found that the 4WD driver had escaped the accident unharmed, while the Perodua Kancil driver was trapped inside his car.
“The Perodua Kancil driver, identified as Jarau Nyala from Dalat, was trapped in the driver’s seat.
“He was confirmed dead by the medical officers at the scene, while the 4WD driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to Sibu Hospital,” he said.
He added that a team of firefighters used the rescue tool to help extricate the victim from the car.
The victim was then handed over to the police for further action.
