KUCHING: The temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at Dewan Pangkalan Bau was officially closed at 2 pm yesterday (Jan 31).
With its closure, 58 PPS remain active as of 4 pm, with a total of 10,993 individuals evacuated.
Twelve PPS have reported an increase in the number of evacuees, including SJK (C) Chung Hua Batu Kawa, Dewan Sri Budaya Niup, SK Sampun Tebun, SK Hj Kelali Semera, Dewan Warisan, and Dewan Slabi Entukuh.
Several other PPS have also seen a rise in evacuee numbers, such as Dewan Masyarakat Serian, Dewan Salcra Kedup 2, Gelanggang Futsal Tertutup Serian, SK Tanah Putih, Dewan Pak Kung Serian, and Dewan Penghulu Balang Sekuau Selangau.
Meanwhile, the number of evacuees at the remaining 46 PPS across Sarawak remains unchanged.
Earlier, at 8 am (Jan 31), SDMC recorded a total of 9,908 evacuees; however, the number surged to 10,993, an increase of 1,085 victims.
