MUKAH: The Rahmah Sales Programme (PJR) will continue to benefit local residents, especially those less fortunate, in obtaining essential items.

Sarawak director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Matthew Dominic Barin, said the programme aims to assist the needy in accessing basic necessities.

“We offer price reductions of between 10 to 30 per cent compared to market prices, and this certainly benefits the public.

“This year, we aim to carry out at least two PJR events in each state constituencies,” he said.

He made these remarks during the 2025 Consumerism Appreciation Ceremony at Kingwood Hotel here, on Tuesday night.

Elaborating further, he said that the Mobile PJR — a shop that seeks out the people — will also be brought to areas populated by the B40 income group.

He explained that this effort is intended to help ease the cost of living borne by these communities.

In this regard, Matthew also shared that there are no longer any issues related to the availability of subsidised cooking oil packets here, which were previously difficult to obtain.

“Now, cooking oil packets are easily accessible as distribution is done by zone.

“We have designated subsidised manufacturers to supply each zone or region to wholesalers and retailers,” he added.

Additionally, he expressed appreciation to all parties involved in the activities organised by KPDN Mukah.

He added that the event was held to recognise the cooperation between KPDN Mukah and government agencies, strategic partners, and media representatives.
