KUCHING: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, MA63, State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali has expressed her support for the open fishing competition held at Pangkalan Kampung Lintang to become an annual event.

The competition, Sharifah Hasidah added, is held in conjunction with the celebration of the Saberkas Samariang Branch Golden Jubilee that saw more than 200 participants yesterday.

She stated that the event has successfully brought the local community together and boosted the local economy.

Making it a yearly event, she said would help further promote the area and its natural beauty while providing an excellent platform for anglers to showcase their skills.

“Events like these can help boost the local economy and create opportunities for local businesses.

“Besides, it brings together the local community, strengthens bonds, and creates a sense of togetherness.

“I agree with chairman of management Saidi Tambi, the competition should be held annually which would attract people in Kuching and even Malaysia to participate,” she said.

She also praised the organisers for their efforts in making the competition a success and encouraged them to continue their excellent work.

Furthermore she said that such an event is evident that the development in Kampung Lintang is going smoothly especially with the existence of the Sungai Bedil-Lintang-Tanjong river wall.
