SARATOK: A 14-day crocodile capture operation targeting Bujang Pagan, a well-known crocodile in Batang Krian, began on Wednesday (Feb 19) and will continue until March 5.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri has urged the public to fully cooperate with the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) to ensure the operation runs smoothly.

“One of the main objectives of this operation is to capture Bujang Pagan, a crocodile that has become an attraction for residents in Saratok,” he said when contacted.

He stressed that residents should not disturb the baited hooks or floating traps placed in the river and advised them to minimise river activities, such as boating and canoeing, during the operation.

Earlier, Mohamad was represented by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka Branch secretary Gapor Ahmad at the Saratok District Human-Crocodile Conflict Management Committee Meeting 2025, chaired by Saratok District officer Muhammad Dino Amid.

The SFC had previously attempted to relocate Bujang Pagan following public complaints, but efforts to capture the 5m-long crocodile were unsuccessful.
