CHINESE consumer electronics manufacturer Oppo is gearing up to introduce its latest foldable flagship, the Find N5, with a launch expected in China within the next two weeks. While an official release date is still under wraps, the company has been dropping hints about its upcoming device.
Touted as the world’s thinnest foldable flagship smartphone, the Find N5 is set to push boundaries in mobile design. Though Oppo has yet to reveal its exact dimensions, renowned industry tipster Abhishek Yadav suggests the device will measure just 4.2mm when unfolded — 1.6mm slimmer than its predecessor, the Find N3.
If these claims hold true, the Find N5 will dethrone the Honor Magic V3 as the slimmest book-style foldable smartphone, which currently holds the record at 4.35mm. While Huawei’s Mate X3 is even thinner at 3.6mm, its tri-fold design places it in a different category, making Oppo’s device the slimmest of its kind.
Inside, the Find N5 is expected to debut a customised version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, featuring a seven-core configuration instead of the typical eight. This modified processor is reportedly optimised for foldable devices, delivering enhanced efficiency and potentially extending battery life.
Oppo has also confirmed that the Find N5 will boast IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 ratings, ensuring robust water resistance. The device will also support the company’s 50W wireless charging technology, making it a strong contender in the foldable market.
As the launch date approaches, more details about the Find N5 are expected to surface. Additionally, its global variant, the OnePlus Open 2, is anticipated to make its debut shortly after the Chinese release.
