BAU: Nine local men were hauled up for alleged involvement in drug activities during an early morning narcotics operation in Kampung Bobak Singai near here today.
The arrests were made under ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) together with Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD) from 5.30 am and 9.00 am.
Bau Police Chief, Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman, said the suspects, aged between 23 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of being involved in abusing drugs.
“During the operations, three of them were in possession of 0.71 gramme of suspected syabu and are being held under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Initial urine tests found that all nine tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and they are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act,” he said.
Haide said the suspects, who have no prior criminal record, admitted to abusing syabu either one or two days prior to their arrest.
In this regard, he assured that stern actions will be taken against anyone involved in drug abuse.
