ENGKILILI: Efforts to provide early exposure to education opportunities, skills training, and talent development, especially in rural areas, are seen as highly significant.

Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said this ensures that people living far from urban centres also have broader access to information.

“In this regard, the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development’s (MEITD) 2025 Outreach Programme is very important.

“MEITD’s annual initiative to visit rural and remote areas throughout Sarawak ensures inclusive and face-to-face access to educational information,” he said.

He said this in his text speech read by Engkilili Assemblyman, Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, when officiating the MEITD 2025 Outreach Programme in collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Engkilili here today.

He also emphasised that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), digital skills, and the field of tech entrepreneurship are viable career paths for young people.

The programme, which involved various educational institutions such as Yayasan Sarawak, Sarawak Skills, and Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), featured interactive activities like the STEM Challenge aimed at nurturing 21st-century skills.

Also highlighted were the Sarawak Education Enhancement Programme (SEEP), the Free Tertiary Education Scheme, book and computer voucher aid, and digital education scholarships.
