TATAU: Twenty-five outstanding Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) and Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) 2024 students from the Kakus constituency received education incentives amounting to RM17,200.

Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai stressed that education was the key to improving the livelihood of families and communities.

He hoped the incentives would serve as motivation for students to continue their success up to university level.

“In addition to these incentives, Kakus students who further their first degrees will also receive a one-off assistance of RM1,000.

“I advise our children to choose courses with strong career prospects, particularly in STEM fields,” the Kakus assemblyman said when officiating at the presentation ceremony yesterday (Aug 25).

Meanwhile, Selangau MP Edwin Banta contributed additional incentives for students — RM1,200 for those pursuing first degrees and RM1,000 for diploma students.

For SPM recipients, students who scored 5As and above received RM100 for each subject, while those who achieved straight As were given RM1,000.

As for STPM, students with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 and above were awarded RM1,000 each.
