SELANGAU: A total of 1,052 flood victims from 67 longhouses have been identified here, with food aid being distributed to those affected.
Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said the government is ensuring that every flood-hit longhouse receives the necessary assistance.

“Every longhouse affected by the flood will receive the necessary assistance,” he said when met after distributing food aid to affected residents here yesterday (Feb 4).
He added that efforts are being made to deliver aid to longhouses cut off by rising waters.
“For families who have to stay longer at temporary evacuation centres (PPS), further assistance will be considered,” he stated.
He said among the worst-hit longhouses are Rumah Harrison and Rumah Jimnun, where severe flood damage may force residents to stay at the Penghulu Balang Sekuau Hall PPS longer until conditions improve.
“We are assessing the extent of the damage to both longhouses to determine the appropriate assistance,” he said.
Earlier, he visited the PPS at the Penghulu Balang Hall, Sekuau, as well as the PPS at SJKC Tong Ah.
On the flood situation, Gira noted that water levels are receding and weather conditions are improving.
Of the four PPS opened in Selangau, one at SK Bukit Arip has already closed, while the remaining three active centres are at the Selangau Multipurpose Hall, SJKC Tong Ah, and Penghulu Balang Sekuau Hall.
