It’s a university driven programme aimed at supporting underprivileged students in their pursuit of academic success.
Organised under the university’s Endowment and Waqf division, the initiative continues to serve as a vital support system for students in need.
This seventh edition of Kasih Insani was held at Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra (DeTAR Putra) in the presence of key university figures and representatives from supporting institutions.

“It is hoped that there are no students left behind or alone in facing financial trials and challenges while chasing their academic dreams,” said Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit.
Also in attendance were Tan Seri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, Chairman of the Unimas Board of Directors, Prof Ir Ts Dr Al-Khalid Othman, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof Ir Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and Prof Dr Fitri Suraya Mohammad Hapeni Jobli, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) Dayang Nor Hajjiah Awang Daud, Director of UNIMAS endowment & waqf division and Prof Dr Ramlah Zainudin along with other board members and university management.
Ahmad Hata expressed appreciation to donors and corporate partners whose continuous support helped realise the initiative.
“The Kasih Insani programme showcases the beauty of love, compassion and concern for one another. It gathers various forms of assistance from savings and ready-to-eat meals (MRE) to basic needs that greatly impact our students lives,” he said.
This year, the programme successfully collected RM1.15 million from donors, with RM743,295 channelled directly to the students in the form of pocket money and essential items.
The remaining funds will support other ongoing welfare initiatives.
Major contributors include Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Maybank Berhad, Bank Rakyat, AmBank, Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak, and the Tabung Haji Institute.
The event also featured the announcement of the Unimas Endowment Scholarship, sponsored by Maybank Islamic Berhad, which supported five students with a combined sponsorship of RM407,700 that will cover tuition fees, monthly living allowances and laptops.
“To the students and recipients, I hope you appreciate the opportunity given and continue striving for excellence not only for yourself, but also for your families and communities,” Ahmad Hata added.
