KUCHING: The roar of engines and strong community spirit will return to Simunjan next October, as its popular bike gathering takes place once again — a key highlight of Simunjan Festival 2025.
Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said the festival, held in conjunction with the town’s biennial regatta and cultural celebration, is expected to attract motorcyclists from across Borneo, including Brunei Darussalam, Sabah, Miri, and Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
“Over 280 bikes came from Pontianak alone, and that’s not even counting those from nearby towns.
“This year, we’re looking forward to welcoming even more, especially with early interest from riding groups throughout the region,” he told Sarawak Tribune at his office in Satok, today.
He added that the event, scheduled to take place over the festival weekend from Oct 3 to 5, will see the bike gathering kick off on Saturday, with festivities beginning as early as Friday.
Riders will join locals in a vibrant celebration featuring the iconic regatta, traditional games, night performances, and a bustling marketplace.
The bike gathering has grown beyond just a hobbyist meet-up — it now symbolises brotherhood, adventure, and shared culture that transcends borders.
“It’s always exciting to see riders come in from so far away. Some travel for hours just to be part of this,” he said.
With tens of thousands expected to attend, Simunjan Festival 2025 is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, a celebration not only of tradition and sport, but of the people who come together to make it special.
