Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, was aimed to ensure road users’ safety during festive season and educate road users to always obey the traffic laws and regulations.
“Throughout the operations, a total of 8,470 people from 6,956 vehicles, have been inspected at 50 locations — 34 roadblocks and 16 patrol areas.
“Meanwhile, the enforcement teams have also ordered 476 vehicles to turn back as they do not have travel permits to cross zones or districts,” he told.
He pointed out that the operations involving a total of 362 traffic personnel from the traffic police department in the Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK), succeeded in ensuring the safety of road users as well as the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are fully complied with.
