Over 700 back home after election deployment in Sabah

KUCHING: Cheers and warm handshakes filled Kuching International Airport yesterday (Dec 1) as the Sarawak Contingent’s human resource assistance personnel returned from the 17th Sabah state election duty.

Deputy Police Commissioner DCP Saifullizan Ishak, accompanied by senior police officers, waited at the hallway near the arrival gate to welcome the first group of returning personnel.

Flight MH8657 from Kota Kinabalu brought home 274 members at 5.10 pm, followed by another 277 on MH8647 at 7.50 pm. In Sibu, 173 personnel arrived on MH8637 at 7.20 pm.

A short prayer was recited at the arrival hall as a gesture of gratitude for the team’s safe return and successful completion of their duties.

Saifullizan commended the team for their discipline, professionalism and commitment during the election deployment, saying that their safe return marked the smooth completion of a major policing assignment.

Also present were Sarawak Management Department chief SAC Rizal Abd Rahman Sidek, Sarawak Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department deputy chief ACP James Jonathan, Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, and senior representatives from the Sarawak Police Air Wing Base, PULAPOL Kuching and the Sarawak Management Department.

A total of 1,031 police officers and personnel from various formations, departments and district police headquarters (IPD) were deployed to Sabah for the election assignment

More than half of the police officers and personnel deployed for the 17th Sabah state election are back.
