SIBU: As at last 25 October the assessment rates collection for the year 2017 has reache d RM33,918,970.53. Chairman of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Datuk Tiong Thai King said that constituted 84.79 per cent of the total amount this year. This was revealed during the full council meeting held at SMC office here on Wednesday.
“Furthermore, we have collected 31.32 per cent of arrears amounting to RM2,060,996.53. We wish to attribute the remarkable collection to the ratepayers who have rendered their full support and co-operation,” he said.
Apart from that, Tiong reminded all rate payers that assessment bills for the second half of year 2017 should be settled before 31 October 2017.
“Duplicate copies of Assessment Bills can be obtained from Counter 4, Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Sibu, Sarawak Government Agency Counter (UTC1), Sibu Central Market Multi Storey Car Park, No. 2, Jalan Bengkel, Sibu,” he explained Tiong stressed that the council shall not entertain any claim that the bill has never been received.
