“The collection of OHW will take place in March, June, September and November of this year, conducted by Trienekens (Sarawak).

“These includes substances that are dangeours due to their volume, concentration, or physical/chemical properties.

Tan said that the acceptance threshold for Trienekens’ OHW Collection (excluding e-waste and car batteries, which are part of the campaign) are depending on the weight of the waste.

“For instance, if it is less than 1kg, it would be free of charge. If it is between 1kg to 3 kg, that would be RM2.30 per kilogramme.

“If it is 3kg and above, the commercial rate apply to respective types of OHW,” he added.

Through the initiative, Tan stated that the public and community will benefit in several ways, such as it is convenient and cost free but within the threshold limit.

“Meaning, the community can segregate and dispose of their OWH at the designated locations, with charges applied based on the acceptance threshold limit,” he added.

For the record, some of the OHW with hazardous element that Trienekens collect are dry cell/lithium ion/alkaline batteries, empty lubricant oil/grease containers or bottles, empty paint containers, spent fluorescents tubes, hazardous chemical aerosol cans, pesticides containers, hazardous chemical containers and car batteries.
