PADAWAN: Registration for the Padawan Raft Safari 2025 is now open to the public with the event scheduled to take place on Oct 5 along Sungai Sarawak Kiri.
The annual eco-adventure, organised by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), will feature bamboo rafting and kayaking races passing through scenic villages in Padawan.
MPP in a statement said this year’s race will start at various points including Kampung Annah Rais, Kampung Timurang, Kampung Danu, and Kampung Semadang, with all routes finishing at Kampung Git.
The event, now part of the Borneo Raft Safari series, aims to promote rafting culture and eco-tourism while supporting the local economy through homestays, cultural activities, and community tourism.
“MPP will collaborate with the Sarawak Rivers Board and Sarawak Forestry Corporation to ensure a safe and smooth event.
“To ensure the safety for all the participants, for water safety, MPP has appointed the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) specifically Siburan Bomba as the official water safety marshals.
“Traffic control will be primarily managed by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) assisted by People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and MPP Enforcement to ease congestion with additional support from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarawak as the emergency response team for general assistance,” the statement added.
