KUCHING: The Padawan District Scouters Council has unveiled its key activities for 2026, aiming to strengthen scouting’s impact on students and the wider community.

The council meeting, held at SK St George, Kampung Punau, on Thursday, brought together scouters from 12 schools in the district to plan programmes focused on leadership, character building and community engagement.

Padawan District Scout Commissioner, Janos Kirim, said the 2026 plans are designed to ensure every activity has meaningful outcomes for scouts, scouters and scout groups.

He said that the year’s calendar includes the Badge Training Camps Series 1 and 2 in July and October; the 111th Anniversary Commemorative Medal Award Ceremony of Sarawak Scouting on April 18 at Dewan Biperuh Garung, Padawan; Scout Eco Run 5.0 on June 21; and preparation of the Padawan Scout Contingent for the 15th Malaysia Scout Jamboree from August 29 to September 4 in Penang.

Assistant District Education Officer of Padawan (Co-Curriculum Unit), Nor Masayu Abdul Rahman, praised the council’s efforts in boosting co-curricular scores in the Puncak Borneo area and urged leaders to continue developing scouting skills while following strict safety SOPs.

“The Scout Movement must remain a key platform for holistic student development in physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual aspects,” she said, adding that she will personally continue supporting scouting activities whenever possible.

Meanwhile, SK St George Headmaster and former Betong District Scout Commissioner, Britt Martin Gana, welcomed the council’s initiatives and offered to share his experience to enhance scouting programmes at his school.

Also present were Assistant Director of Education, Sarawak State Education Department, Dr Danggat Chabo, and Assistant Chief Scout Commissioner (Leadership), Aldrin Peter Diman.
