KUCHING: A total of 345 trees and flowering plants have been donated by Pansar Company Sdn Bhd to the Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) as part of this year’s tree planting programme at Batu Kawa Riverbank Park.
The contribution, under the ongoing collaboration between the council and Pansar, aims to enhance the greenery, biodiversity and scenic value of the riverfront.
This marks the second consecutive year of partnership following the success of last year’s initiative.
The programme, held last Sunday, brought together a 40-member team from Pansar alongside PMC councillors, officers and volunteers, reflecting strong public–private support for environmental stewardship and community well-being.
PMC chairman Tan Kai expressed appreciation for Pansar’s continued commitment, noting that public–private partnerships (PPP) play a vital role in advancing the council’s sustainability agenda.
“MPP welcomes all corporate bodies, associations and community organisations to collaborate with us in introducing more green initiatives and community-impact programmes,” he said.
Tan also reminded visitors to Batu Kawa Riverbank Park to utilise the designated parking spaces at the shoplots above the riverbank area and to avoid double parking to ensure smooth traffic flow and convenience for all park users.
He added that meaningful collaborations such as this not only enhance the urban landscape but also foster a shared sense of responsibility among residents.
PMC looks forward to more organisations coming forward to support sustainability and community well-being initiatives.
