SRI AMAN: Residents in Pantu and Balai Ringin are set to benefit from improved infrastructure through the implementation of high-impact projects worth over RM240 million.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said that the construction of a new water treatment plant in Pantu, valued at RM110 million, is funded by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
He added that another key project currently being implemented under the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) involves the distribution of clean water from Slabi, Serian to Balai Ringin, with a project cost of RM130 million. This initiative is set to significantly strengthen the rural water supply network in the area.
“The project is currently in the tendering stage and is expected to begin next year.
“It will involve the extension of clean water pipelines from Kampung Jaong to Kampung Empelanjau, benefiting hundreds of households along the route,” he said during a programme held at Rh Peter Gimang, Kampung Rapak Penyau here recently.
Snowdan, who is also the Balai Ringin assemblyman, said the Pantu Town Square development project, with a cost of RM2.2 million, is currently under construction.
Once completed, he said it is expected to become a vibrant new hub for the community’s social and economic activities.
On community development, Snowdan encouraged greater participation of women in arts and culture, including handicrafts and traditional dance, to preserve cultural heritage while supporting local livelihoods.
To support these efforts, he allocated a contribution of RM10,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Rapak Penyau, and RM5,000 to the village’s Women’s Bureau, as part of efforts to empower women in driving economic growth and cultural preservation.
