PANTU: The Pantu Zone STEM Carnival 2025, together with the Think and Tinker (T&T) Mini Lab, organised by the Sarawak Children’s Economic Fund (TEGAS) in partnership with the Pantu Zone Headmasters Association marks a new chapter in STEM education for rural areas.

The event was officiated by Sarawak’s Deputy Minister for Tourism Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, who is also the treasurer of TEGAS.

He emphasised the Sarawak government’s commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce by 2030.

“This carnival is not just an early exposure to STEM but also an interactive platform that encourages creative thinking and innovation.

“Sarawak’s children must be prepared for the technological era to compete globally.”

Snowdan, who is also the Balai Ringin assemblyman, stated that the organisation of the Pantu Zone STEM Carnival 2025 and T&T Mini Lab reflects the continuous efforts of the government private sector and community to strengthen STEM education in Sarawak.

The T&T Mini Lab based at SK Pantu will benefit 10 other schools in the Pantu Zone providing rural students with access to high tech learning facilities such as 3D printing drones coding and robotics putting them on par with their urban peers.

Additionally the TEGAS Community Innovative Learning TCIL program introduced various interactive STEM activities, including Nex Playground VR Experience Flight Simulator and IQ Puzzle, to enhance students’ interest in science and technology.

Several agencies such as the Sarawak State Chemistry Department, Sultan Iskandar Planetarium, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation and Sarawak Biodiversity Centre participated in interactive exhibitions to provide students with hands-on learning experiences.

Also present at the event were Sri Aman District deputy education officer for Learning Sector, Nancy Nosiew; TEGAS Community Innovative Learning senior manager Fredick Kevin Buseli, and SK Pantu headmaster cum chairman of the Pantu Zone Headmasters Association, Downey George.
