SIBU: Parents are urged to play a more active role in supporting their children’s development, especially in facing the challenges of the increasingly complex digital world.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Min g Tee, said that children are now exposed to various pressures and negative influences online, hence continuous attention and support from parents is very much needed.
“Nowadays, children are very exposed to the online world, which may bring pressure and negative influences.
“Therefore, parents need to pay close attention to their children’s development, their self-confidence, and their interest in learning.
“Let us all play our respective roles to the best of our ability,” he said at the SJK(C) Kiang Hin’s celebration of Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri cum launching of Smart Classrooms at its Multipurpose Hall here today.
Meanwhile, Tiang, who is also Pelawan assemblyman, described the launch of the smart classroom as an important step in strengthening the use of technology in education.
According to him, the facility provides a more interactive and technology-based learning approach, in line with current needs.
“Dear students, your classroom is now “smart”. However, no matter how sophisticated the equipment is, success still depends on your own efforts,” he said.
Tiang also stressed the importance of unity among students of all races in Sarawak.
He said that the joint celebration of Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which was displayed through the stage decorations, reflected the harmony and spirit of togetherness of the multi-racial community in this state.
“Despite our different backgrounds, we are all Sarawakians and we must continue to support each other,” he said.
In addition, he announced that the school will celebrate its 100th anniversary next year, reflecting the contributions of previous generations in developing the institution.
“A hundred years is an achievement that deserves to be celebrated and I hope to have the opportunity to be present and witness this historic moment.
